Sound Check
During summer 2004, I conducted a series of interviews with the purpose of finding out more about the situation of visual art in Bristol. These interviews took place in a variety of settings - homes, cafes, studios, offices - and were kept deliberately subjective. The intention was to collect qualitative information rather than objective driven data. Overall, the work could be understood as an attempt to create a platform for discourse on the situation of visual art in Bristol and in the UK in general.
The outcome of this process was shown in form of an exhibition consisting of an acoustic installation and a moving image piece at station, an art space curated by Louise Short. An edited version of the interviews was published in form of an audio CD format.
