Playtime
Since 2004, a new topic has begun to emerge in Claudia Pilsl’s work practice in which she explores the socio cultural landscape of transitive places. Of special interest to her is hereby the constructed landscape, the artificiality of managed nature, and its role in urban life.
In ‘Playtime’ Claudia Pilsl looks especially at children’s involvement with the urban green space through play. The artist explores how children interact with the provided structures, how they merge into this environment of the safely managed outdoors. At the same time, she aims to pinpoint the moment of the child’s immense physical yet ephemeral presence in the contained nature of the city.
Playtime was shown in the exhibition Parks, Gardens and Urban Living (2010) at the Kunstverein artP in Perchtoldsdorf.
