North Entrance

North Entrance, Tate Modern, Claudia Pilsl

North Entrance is based on the little used side entrance on the north side at Tate Modern.  It was recorded from a single static viewpoint and framed so that half of the space is shown in the mirror-like glass of the restaurant. Passers-by seem to walk into the real space and out of the fictional space of the mirrored image. Every two minutes the flow of the time line is disrupted by a sudden yet slow turning of the entire image.

is part of the Tate Modern series and was shown in a solo show titled space encounters (2002) at the Landesgalerie am Oberösterreichischen Landesmuseum and is documented by a catalogue. The main texts by Dr. Martin Hochleitner and Carl Aigner can be found in the section Word. It was also exhibited in the group show species of spaces (2002) at Danielle Arnaud gallery.
